Just as our pastor provides a ministry of significance, so, too, does this congregation seek to do the same, many of the congregation’s ministry efforts are organized through committees. Following is a summary of the church’s committees and the activities undertaken to extend a ministry of significance within our church and the community:
Education: Coordinates Sunday School curriculum and Vacation Bible School, maintains the CtL Library, informs members of seminars and educational offerings, sponsors special events such as the ever-popular “Drive in Movie Nights” and “Zoo in the Pew”. Evangelism/Outreach: Welcomes worshippers by maintaining greeter program, corresponds and visits with members and guests, supports new member orientation, provides publicity for holiday services and special events. Hospitality: Oversees the weekly hospitality function following each worship service and as well as special functions such as the annual Christmas Tree trimming party. Property Management: Manages and maintains all church property, equipment and grounds. Social Ministry: Sponsors the annual Special Angel Project to provide assistance to a special needs individual, supports the local Habitat for Humanity effort, coordinated the Holiday Angel Project to provide meals and gifts to adoptive families, coordinates with other local ecumenical efforts. Stewardship: Dedicated to ensuring that as a faith community, CtL members focus on returning gifts of our time, talents and treasures—our family, the church, the community and the world. Worship & Music: Works with the pastor and the music director to oversee regular and holiday worship, Lenten soup suppers, ensures scheduling of lectors, ushers, sound system operators, provides altar guild support. Other: Annual sponsorship and participation in the Hunger (CROP) Walk, Crafters group, CtL college scholarship program, special events such as the Fall Faith Fair and Take a Friend to Church Sunday, two year confirmation class for 7th and 8th graders.
These activities augment the multitude of other activities that the members of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church undertake individually. Though we’ve grown from a congregation of 8 to 300, we remain a small congregation compared to many churches today. However, we at CtL believe that our ministry is not one that can be measured by membership statistics, but rather by the significance or meaning we strive to install in our worship, ministry and community efforts. In so doing, we, as a community of faith, seek to offer thanks for God’s many good gifts.
