Young Lutherans Sing: A Summer Choral Experience Young Lutherans Sing (YLS) is a program of the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians (ALCM) for young musicians in grades 4-8. The one-week choral and worship program provides participants with a variety of hands-on experiences and opportunities to develop musical skills and gain knowledge and appreciation of the church’s songs for spiritual growth and worship leadership. Participants need not be Lutheran. Tuition for this program is $350 for registrations received by March 15, 2007. Tuition for registrations postmarked after March 15 is $400. If three or more students from the same congregation register together, each student will receive a $25 tuition discount. Tuition includes room, board, and program fees. Registration forms are available at www.alcm.org. For more information, call Michael Zemek at 309.794.7656. Carthage College is a four-year private liberal arts college of the ELCA. Participants will worship and perform in A. F. Siebert Chapel, a 1,500-seat worship-performance space in the Johnson Arts Center. Michael Burkhardt, conductor and clinician, is internationally known for his innovative and inspiring hymn festivals and for his creative work with children. Professor Burkhardt directs the Carthage Choir and is the College organist. He received his DMA from Arizona State University. |
